Plant growth regulator
The most potent synthetic auxin for callus induction and somatic embryogenesis. At 0.5–5.0 mg/L, 2,4-D dedifferentiates plant tissues to produce highly proliferative, often embryogenic callus — the primary growth regulator in cereal transformation protocols (maize, wheat, barley). Dissolve in dilute NaOH or ethanol.
Persistent herbicide with long environmental half-life. Work in a fume hood and wear nitrile gloves. Prevent solutions from reaching soil, drains, or water sources. Dispose of all waste as hazardous chemical waste according to local environmental regulations.
