Wetted filter paper (11 cm diameter) used in tissue culture as a sterile surface for cutting explants, bridging support for root induction in liquid medium, and as an absorbent layer in Petri dish cultures. Autoclave filter paper before use. In liquid bridge cultures, saturate several layers with liquid medium in a Petri dish and place explants on top — roots grow down through the filter into the medium.
